Games Workshop Fall 2026 Releases: Everything Announced So Far

By Colin Archer  ·  July 30, 2026

Every fall, the same thing happens behind the counter at The Game Station: the release calendar fills up faster than we can restock the shelves, and half the conversations at the tables turn into "wait, did you see what Games Workshop just announced?" This year is no different. Between the summer preview shows and the steady drip of rumors, the Games Workshop fall 2026 releases are shaping up to be one of the busiest stretches we've had in a while — and if you're planning your hobby budget, now is the time to pay attention.

Here's everything announced so far, sorted out from the store-owner's chair, so you know what's coming, what's worth pre-ordering, and what to keep an eye on.

Warhammer 40,000: 11th Edition Settles In — and Orks Lead the Charge

The big story is still 11th Edition. Now that the core rules landed over the summer as a free download, the question everyone's asking is which army book shows up first. The answer, by all accounts, is Codex: Orks. The greenskins are leading the new-format codex lineup this fall, and there's a rumored multi-part plastic Ork Warboss lined up to go with it — very possibly timed for Orktober, because of course it is.

If you play Orks, this is your season. If you don't, it's still the codex to study, because the first book of a new edition sets the tone for how the rest of the range gets treated. And here's the part I keep reassuring customers about: your current codex doesn't turn into a coaster the day 11th Edition books start rolling out. Games Workshop confirmed existing codexes and faction rules stay valid, so nobody has to panic-buy a new book just to keep playing the army they already own. That's a genuinely good call, and it takes a lot of the anxiety out of an edition change.

The Big Summer Preview Set the Table

The Big Summer Warhammer Preview did a lot of the heavy lifting for what's landing over the next few months. Two things had our regulars buzzing. First, the Aeldari Exodites are back — dinosaur-riding Aeldari, which is exactly the kind of gloriously weird deep-cut lore that makes people fall in love with this hobby in the first place. Second, more Orks, which pairs neatly with the codex timing above.

From where I sit, previews like this matter for planning. When a faction gets a spotlight, the starter-adjacent products — paint sets, tools, and the core kits for that army — tend to move fast once the models actually hit. If you've been eyeing an Exodites or Ork project, get your paints and bases sorted early so you're not waiting on a backorder the week everyone else decides the same thing.

The Horus Heresy Keeps Rolling

The Horus Heresy isn't slowing down either. New plastic Tactical Marines in the classic MkIV "Maximus" armor — armed with Tigris-pattern bolters — are part of the wave, which is fantastic news for anyone building an Age of Darkness force who's tired of hunting down older kits. The Custodes are getting real love too, with multi-part plastic models including the Telemon Dreadnought and the Pallas Grav-Attack. Plastic Custodes at a sane price point is something Heresy players have wanted for years.

These are the releases I'd tell a newer Heresy player to build around. Plastic kits are more forgiving to assemble, easier to convert, and a lot friendlier on the wallet than the resin they're replacing.

What This Means for Your Fall Hobby Plan

Pulling it together: fall 2026 is an Orks-forward season on the 40K side, with a healthy Horus Heresy wave and the ongoing 11th Edition transition running underneath it all. My advice as someone who watches this stuff move through the store every week — decide now which one or two projects you're actually committing to, and get the foundational supplies in early. Paints, brushes, clippers, and a good surface to work and play on always sell out around a big release window, and the folks who plan ahead are the ones still hobbying happily in December.

We'll be stocking the fall releases as they drop, and we're happy to special-order anything you don't see on the shelf. Swing by The Game Station, tell us what army you're chasing this season, and we'll help you build a plan — and a pile of miniatures — that actually gets finished. And if you want to talk through the 11th Edition changes in person, you'll usually find someone at the tables who's more than willing to argue about it.
